About this tool

Compression reduces a PDF's file size so it is easier to email or upload. This tool works by rasterising each page to an image at a quality level you choose, then rebuilding the PDF — an approach that shrinks image-heavy and scanned documents the most.

The trade-off is that text becomes part of the page image and is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need selectable text, keep the original. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Add a PDF file.
  2. Pick a level: Less (best quality), Recommended, or More (smallest).
  3. Click Compress PDF.
  4. Compare the original and compressed sizes, then download.

Common problems

The file barely got smaller.
PDFs that are already compact (mostly text, few images) have little to remove. Try the 'More' level, or accept that the file is already near-optimal.
I can no longer select the text.
This compressor rasterises pages, so text turns into an image. Keep the original file when selectable text matters.
