About this tool

A watermark on a photo — a studio name, a website, a copyright line — marks ownership and makes an unauthorised re-post traceable back to its source, without a separate license file or metadata that gets stripped the moment someone re-saves the image.

How to use it

  1. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image and type the watermark text.
  2. Pick an opacity and a rotation angle.
  3. Turn on "Repeat across image" for a tiled pattern that covers the whole photo — much harder to crop out than a single corner stamp — or turn it off and choose a corner (or the centre) for a single stamp instead.
  4. Pick a colour that contrasts with the photo — white for dark backgrounds, dark grey or black for light ones.

Examples

Marking a portfolio photo

Text: © Studio Name, tiled, opacity 30%, rotation -30°, white
A repeated, semi-transparent diagonal watermark across the whole photo, visible enough to deter reuse without hiding the image underneath.

A single corner mark

Text: yoursite.com, tiled off, position bottom-right, opacity 70%
One instance of the text stamped in the bottom-right corner, the way a subtle brand credit is usually placed.

Common problems

The watermark is barely visible against a busy photo.
Increase the opacity, or switch the colour to whichever of black/white contrasts more with the dominant tones in your photo.
I want the mark in one corner, not repeated everywhere.
Turn off "Repeat across image" — this reveals a position selector for the four corners or the centre.
