Video to Audio

Pull the audio track out of a video file and download it as WAV — nothing ever leaves your device.

Audio is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded.

About this tool

Sometimes all you need from a video is its audio track — a lecture recording to listen to on a commute, a screen-capture's voiceover, a music video's soundtrack. `decodeAudioData` demuxes and decodes an audio track from whatever container the browser recognizes, video included, so pulling it out doesn't need a video-processing library at all.

How to use it

  1. Upload a video file — MP4, WebM and most other browser-playable formats work.
  2. Its audio track decodes in the background; the duration is shown once it succeeds.
  3. Press Extract Audio and download the result as a WAV file.

Examples

Pulling audio from a screen recording

a 3-minute MP4 screen capture with narration
A 3-minute WAV file containing just the narration track.

Common problems

It says no audio track could be read.
Either the file genuinely has no audio track, or its audio codec isn't one the browser's decoder supports (rare, but happens with some less common codecs muxed into MP4 or MKV containers) — try converting the video with a desktop tool first, or check that it plays sound in the browser at all.
