About this tool

A table in a PDF is really just text placed at specific coordinates — there's no underlying grid, no cell boundaries pdf.js can hand you directly. Automatically guessing where the columns are gets it wrong often enough to be untrustworthy, so this tool asks for one thing a person can do reliably and a script can't: point at the table.

How to use it

  1. Upload a PDF and navigate to the page with the table.
  2. Drag a box around the table on the page image.
  3. Click inside the selection to drop a column divider where one column ends and the next begins — click a divider again to remove it.
  4. The extracted rows appear live below as you adjust the selection and dividers. Download as Excel or CSV once it looks right.

Examples

A simple price list

A 3-column, 4-row table selected with two column dividers
A 4-row spreadsheet with each column's text in its own cell, ready to download.

Common problems

The preview says no text was found in the selected area.
The page is likely a scanned image rather than one with a real text layer — this tool reads existing selectable text only, the same limitation PDF to Text has; a scanned table needs OCR first.
