About this tool

Most photos from a phone or camera carry an EXIF block: camera model, exposure settings, the exact timestamp, and often the GPS coordinates of where the shot was taken. That last one is the one people don't expect — a photo shared online can silently reveal a home address.

How to use it

  1. Upload a JPEG (PNG and WebP rarely carry EXIF, but are accepted too).
  2. Whatever fields exist are listed — camera, lens, date, exposure, and GPS coordinates with a link to view the location on a map.
  3. If you'd rather share the photo without any of this, press "Download without metadata" — it re-encodes the image, which strips EXIF as a side effect.

Examples

A phone photo

Camera: iPhone 14 Pro · Date taken: 2026-03-14 09:12 · GPS: 41.0082, 28.9784 (linked to a map)

Common problems

No metadata shows up at all.
Many images genuinely have none — screenshots, images re-saved by messaging apps, and most web-optimized graphics strip EXIF long before you'd ever see them here.
