About this tool

A modern site needs a favicon in several sizes — a 16×16 for a browser tab looks blurry if it's just a scaled-down 512×512, and a dedicated Apple touch icon is what shows up when someone adds your site to an iOS home screen. Getting all of them right by hand means resizing the same image six times.

How to use it

  1. Upload a square (or close to square) logo or icon image — anything else is center-cropped to a square first.
  2. Press Generate. You'll get six PNGs: 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 for browser tabs, a 180×180 Apple touch icon, and 192×192 / 512×512 for Android and PWA manifests.
  3. Download them all, then copy the HTML snippet into your page's <head>.

Examples

A logo that isn't square

A 1200×600 wide logo
Cropped to a centered 600×600 square before resizing, so the icon isn't squashed horizontally.

Common problems

My logo has important detail near the edges and the crop cuts it off.
Favicons are viewed extremely small, so simplify the source image first — crop or pad it yourself to a square with the important mark centered, then re-upload.
