About this tool

An SVG exported from a design tool usually carries a lot that never affects how it renders — editor metadata, redundant groups, full-precision coordinates, comments. SVGO strips all of that; this runs it entirely client-side rather than sending the file to a server.

How to use it

  1. Upload an SVG file, or paste its code directly.
  2. Press Optimize to see the size saved and a live preview of the result.
  3. Copy the optimized SVG, or download it.

Examples

A design-tool export

A 2.3 KB SVG with a comment, an editor namespace attribute and a redundant wrapping group
A ~1.1 KB SVG rendering identically, with the comment, namespace and empty group removed.

Common problems

The optimized SVG looks slightly different from the original.
SVGO's default preset only applies transformations that are meant to be visually lossless — a difference usually means the source relied on something unusual (an editor-specific quirk, a malformed attribute) that a stricter renderer interprets differently. Try without multipass first to see if a single optimization pass avoids it.
