Hreflang Tag Generator

Generate reciprocal hreflang link tags for a page's translations, with an optional x-default.

hreflang tags

<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="https://example.com/en/page" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="tr" href="https://example.com/tr/sayfa" />

Paste this same block into every page listed above.

About this tool

Hreflang tells search engines which URL to show a visitor based on their language or region — but it only works when every translated page carries the exact same reciprocal set of tags, itself included. Getting that consistent by hand across many pages is where most hreflang mistakes come from.

How to use it

  1. List each translation as a locale code (like "en" or "pt-BR") and its URL.
  2. Optionally set an x-default URL — the fallback for visitors whose language doesn't match any listed locale.
  3. Copy the generated tags and paste the same block into every one of these pages' <head>.

Examples

An English/Turkish page pair

en → https://example.com/en/page, tr → https://example.com/tr/sayfa
Two <link rel="alternate" hreflang="..."> tags, identical on both the English and Turkish page.

Common problems

Google Search Console still reports a hreflang error after adding these.
The most common cause is the same block not being pasted onto every page — if the English page lists the Turkish URL but the Turkish page's own tags are missing or different, the reciprocal link is broken. Every listed page needs the identical tag set.
